ok, this is different to the other thread. the problem i have is quite awkward. i have my sound on normal, and recently, for the past week or so, suddenly, after maybe about a hour, it automatically goes to mute...for no logical reason....the volume control thing just goes down to lowest/mute. i have to put it back up everytime, this has never happened before...a virus? big problem? its wierd, i want to fix it, i don't know what to do..

something wrong with sound card? drivers?

there maybe some scheduled setting that's affecting your sound.

try just leaving your system running with minimal applications, let some media player play a song on repeat and see when the mute bit happens

yeap, i've done that. i was watching a clip, and all of a sudden, it just mutes. and one more thing, when it does mute, a small "tick" sound comes from the cpu.

confused..

That is very strange... do you have a decent firewall/anti-virus?

Ah i've had that problem before, it's nothing serious just spyware.
Give it a good scan and everything will be fine.
