When determing the volume between a curve and a line by slices, I found i had to integrate in terms of y. Is it possible to just differentiate the original function to get dy in terms of dx and integrate that?

Yes, you can change your integral to be in terms of dx by doing what you said.
Just be careful that you change the limits.

yeah if u gotta integrate with respect to y, but the equation is all x.
u can:
a) rearrange given eq'ns and sub for x, and then integrate.
b) dy/dx original function you'll get the derivative times ( dy or dx) but remebrr u gotta change limits!
