vpn for macs on school wifi (1 Viewer)

hey guys idk why my original vpn has js stopped working so i was js wondering if anyone had any recommendations for free vpns for macbooks that actually stay connected on school wifi.

so far ive tried hotspot shield (was the original one and it worked for like years and for some reason it js suddenly stopped), betternet (a friend recommended it to me but it only stays connected for like ten seconds before disconnecting and trying to reconnect but then failing), x-vpn and proton vpn (works at home but not on school wifi) but for some reason none of them work

ive updated my macs software (latest sonoma update not tahoe bc i really dont want liquid glass apparently its really bad for battery drain) and ive reinstalled the first two like three times after editing various settings but to no avail (and yes when i reinstall i make sure i remove old configs so theres only ever one vpn config on my mac at a time)

any help is appreciated!!

Does your school use detnsw or its own wifi? All of these are useable on detnsw
Also security wise, proton is the only free one that doesn't collect your data, have hidden malware or have sketchy privacy practices(specifically X-VPN is extremely questionable) but it only works on Windows on detnsw. I would honestly not use any of these but if you must, hotspot shield > betternet > xvpn

we do use detnsw so idk its probably a problem with my laptop atp

if u can be bothered u should look into hosting ur own VPN in the cloud (smth like AWS) its free and its unblocked so u can use it anywhere (at school, libraries, etc). it does require a bit of technique expertise tho.
