wow. Any other fields as saturated as B.Pharm now? :/
Commerce is saturated as fuck. So is civil engineering but that's to a lesser extent.

By the looks of it, the only few fields I know that aren't saturated are Petroleum engo, mining engo, software engo and actuarial jobs that require completion of part III's.

haha nah that's pretty saturated
although the cohort is smaller companies are only hiring like 1-2 grads in those disciplines if at all and the uwa/curtin graduates have the hometown advantage with most companies
and that void is for seniors not graduates, companies are more willing to import experienced engineers and/or assemble teams of engineers from the other disciplines
our family friend is a COO of a medium sized exploration company and he was a petroleum engineer with qualifications in geology/mech eng and he goes on about how it's stupid to get such a specialised unstable degree in todays world when you can do elec/chem/mech and still work with mining companies and rake it in and/or get post grad qualifications or do sci (geo)/eng (mech etc.)

I see your signature
I bet you've been listening to the hyped up pseudo-propoganda from the faculty

Most areas are saturated now. But that doesn't mean they're all equally bad in terms of employment etc. I'd rather have a field with 10000 taken jobs than a field with 5 taken jobs.

To be honest, from what I've seen, if you do well at uni, you'll be fine.

Job slump in Civil at the moment and so many students.

I know it's not neccesarily the best indicator on graduate positions, but at UTS there is a service where they provide provide internship advertisements. Most students (by far, more than half easily) are Civil majors but it also had the least positions advertised. They don't offer petroleum/mining so I can't comment on that, but as for software... ICT (i.e. Software, Telecoms and Comp Systems) has the least amount of students and the most positions advertised.

We do get a few more positions since the lower skilled electrical positions and some Mechatronic positions are also advertised under ICT, but even excluding those positions afaik we still had easily the most.

You could always move to the states and settle for a 90k starting salary.
it depends where in the US you are going to move. it also depends on your "networks" (ei, relatives, friends) who knows a company or someone that can help you get a job. Most of my family are in the US and a number of them are medical professionals so when my cousin graduated Pharmacy in here she moved there and she easily got a job at a hospital.

Currently and in future pharmacy will be the worst profession to be. After studying hard and then passing the tedious board exam the students have no job. Reason; there are currently approx 20 schools providing degree with 1800 students passing each year. Currently 3000 students jobless and many more not able to find full time work. Study hard build up hecs and in return you don't get any thing. Type " pharmacist wages in Australia in Google and see yourself also type " open letter from pharmacy guild and psa ". Future also looks gloom because it is heavily depended on government funding and is going to decrease day by day because economic. So save yourself by not getting a dead degree and will be an expensive tissue paper u will ever purchase

lol. Our biology teacher at school graduated from pharmacy at USYD 7-8 years ago. He went bankrupt due to the high competition, lost his job, started an education degree in USYD and he says don't do pharmacy under any circumstances because you won't have a job.

After witnessing my brother doing pharmacy for the past few years, I'm afraid OP has some element of truth.

Just edited my post. I guess I shouldn't be too extreme based on one person's experience haha
There's not one person I know that did pharmacy (like half my church) that's happy with it, except for one guy who has his own pharmacy. I've also been told it's becoming increasingly difficult to compete due to shops like pharmacy warehouse (the discount one).

Does pharmacy and gets the same pay as maccas .... LOl.

There's no point doing pharmacy unless you are going to start your one (legal) pharmacy.... *wink wink.

I've always wondered why you need a Pharm. degree to be a senior employee at a pharmacy. I've perceived that area of pharmacy as essentially retail.
