Go to www.templebooks.com.au, they sell books for roughly about $10 cheaper than RRP.

Unless I'm extremely stupid or something, I can't find prelim ext maths on the templebooks site:

And i thought i heard somewhere that you could buy his textbooks at the dymocks in the city? (although i could be wrong, and probably am.)

Yeah, just like WW said, there's a huge Dymock's store as well. There is also a gigantic Angus bookstore, and a Japanese shop opposite Victoria building (I think) that sells a variety of Prelim/HSC textbooks in the city.
