ok every time i hear watergate mentioned i try and find out what it was, i ask people, i do searches on the internet but i can never find a straight answer. All i ever seem to find out is that it was a scandal, and Recihard Nixon was exposed for it.

so what i want to know is, in simple terms what was it about?

and secondly for all the people who know what it is about, was what Nixon did really so bad? or was he just unfortunate enough to have his scandal exposed as many American presidents had their own little scandals hidden in the closet. was it just because it was the first breaking of trust with the American people? much in the same way that JFK's assasination broke their naivety and forced them to protect their president with heavy security. What about JFK's love scandals that the press never printed about, he had many affairs while married and yet Clinton is picked on because of his sexual relations in the whitehouse

That should give you a nice idea....

I learnt about watergate a few years back when i randomly watched the movie made about it.

Basically some people broke into and bugged the democratic Headquaters, and Nixon was found to be involved....

Only cause Forrest Gump squealed, as is my understanding.

I didn't think Nixon was actually involved in the break in, rather he found out people in his party did it and tried to sweep it under the carpet.
