Has anyone looked at the 2009 sydney girls trial paper? One of the question is:

Find the equation of an odd mimic polynomial with least degree and has a double root at -1 and triple root at 4.

I think the answer is just

But the the solution is like says: (I can't see why, doesn't make any sense)

well its an odd polynomial so it has point symmetry about the origin.

you have a triple root at x = 4 and double at x = -1. therefore since poly is odd there must be roots of the same magnitude on the negative x-axis and a root at x = 0.
