Basically I just want to see what things in books you find a bit weird / annoy you and what characteristic/mannerisms of authors/characters annoy you?
I decided to create this thread as at present I am reading Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series and I always get frustrated by some of his lack of character development. If you read these books you will find that almost all characters are very similar. Eg;
*Everyone is "tight" with everyone else (all characters use this one word to describe how friendly they are)
He also stuffs up time lines and details from book to book. Eg; in red rabbit the foley kids are younger than the ryan kids but in bear and the dragon, the foley kids are all at college when the ryan kids are all still at home in high school.
This is just a start and also Tom, if you read this, if you ever have Jack Ryan joke that; if he fools around he's married to a surgeon and may wake up without something if he is caught, I will hunt you down and make you eat all of your novels!
