whats a seminar than?

If attendance is marked in some tuts, etc for u to pass the course, does that mean u just have to turn up to get full marks or actually "participate" in discussion or whatever?

im not sure about participation level, but i heard a while back you had to attend a certain % of your tutes before you could even look at passing, have a feeling it was about 75%
however, i heard this ages and ages ago, it could be well out of date

This is the case in some subjects - UNSW maths requires 80%+ tute attendence for a pass. Some subjects assess you on your class participation level.
