I need to write an essay on what makes a project leader good enough to fit their role in relation to them being in charge of the development of a DBMS.
Can anyone give their recommendations as to what they think make a project leader successful??

Refer to project management techniques in the Davis Textbook. Pages 4 - 13 literally write the essay for you

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to apply such skills to an array of different settings and communication mediums with both internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve superior project outcomes. Including the ability to effectively apply active listening techniques in order to best understand and acknowledge what the speaker is saying and direct the conversion in an appropriate manner. In hand with the appropriate use of language, tone, body language and all other associated factors
  • The ability to direct, motivate and negotiate with the project team in order to achieve maximum feasibility. Including the application of team building techniques as highlighted in Tuckman's four stages of teamwork development
  • Excellent planning skills in regards to the sustainable implementation of project management tools such as gantt chart's, diaries and communication management plans. Ensuring that the project is completed in a well documented and schedulally feasible manner in order to maximize the satisfaction of both internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to hold consistent lines of communication and adapt the project to meet the needs of the specific client. Including t the ability to efficiently alter the project or certain aspects of the project in reaction to the various internal and external influences arising through the constantly changing nature of information technology. (The ability to be highly adaptable to change)
  • A high level of negotiation skills in order to negotiate both internally and externally with the project team, other businesses and clients to enable project outcomes to be achieved with a maximum level of feasibility. Being able to apply techniques such as brainstorming and mediation in hand with fully understanding the nature of the problem to reach a mutual decisions that are accepted by both conflicting parties
  • The ability to apply conflict resolution techniques in order to reach effective and feasible agreements with an array of parties involved with system delivery. Such as the project team, clients, other businesses, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors etc.
  • The ability to effectively manage project resources such as finances, human resources, time, information and customers to achieve superior project outcomes and enable maximum client satisfaction

Stuff like that + What everyone else said
