What debates in the case study are you doing?

How may debates are you doing in the Case Study? The syllabus lists 5 debates for each - are you doing all 5 or what?

eg (from the Syllabus)

Option 8: Tacitean View of the Early Principate
Principal focus: students investigate the way in which Tacitus constructed the history of the early Roman Principate.
Students examine the approaches to history and interpretations (including recent historiography) that have resulted in historical debate in the areas of:
– context of Tacitus and his purpose
– the notion of principate
– tyranny and freedom
– Tacitus’ characterisation of women and men: similarities and differences
– the impact of archaeological, epigraphic and iconographical sources.

We're doing all 5 of these debates on Tacitus - is that what other schools are doing on their case study topic?


Note I mean case study, not Research project.

For example, you might be doing JFK, Tacitus, The Crusades, Elizabeth I etc for your case study

– representations of Kennedy — man and myth
– public and private figure
– role in the Cuban missile crisis
– Indochina
– relationship and dealings with Khrushchev.

Yes at a school nearby they are doing Crusades, and covering 3 of the set debates. My friend there & I are arguing whether the syllabus says you *have* to do 5 debates or not.

we're doing Liz the first, and we're covering all 5 areas of the debate but we only have to pick 2-3 for ths HSC...
