Getting a Band 3 means.. you really need to study your ass off.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the system is like:

Band 6 = 90 - 100
Band 5 = 80 - 90
Band 4 = 70 - 80
Band 3 = 60 - 70
Band 2 = 50 - 60
Band 1 = * < 50

i think its something like that though, correct me if im wrong, a band 3 is somewhere along the lines of barely above 50%

In an Essay how many quotes would you use to get at least above a band 3, with a your prescribed text?

if you ask the people who believe that english should not be compulsory, about 90% of the people just suck at it, 5% have some weird flawed reasoning, and the other 5% perhaps have legit reasoning.

Bands are ment to be

Band 1: 0-49
Band 2: 50-59
Band 3: 60-69
Band 4: 70-79
Band 5: 80-89
Band 6: 90-100

interesting considering there is ment to be 105 marks...
Paper 1, each section is 15 marks
Paper 2, each module is 20 marks.

Yes, a band 3 is bad and will negatively affect your ATAR, but there is a range of pathways into university. Talk to your careers advisor, im sure they will babble on about other ways to get in.

And besides- the HSC has no correlation to success in life- nor, for that fact, can it be measured.

I dropped from second to seventh in legal because of the trial- so gay i now think i wanna burn down the stupid board of studies institute (not really)
I feel your pain..
