What exactly does "recent" mean? e.g. for U/e or economic growth (1 Viewer)

Last month's figures (if they are available yet).

Statistics are collected every month. However, they aren't released automatically. The figures for May will probably come out on the 7th of June or something. It takes a week to crunch the numbers and get them in a form suitable for release.

If you went on the RBA website on the 2nd of June and tried to find data for May, it most likely wouldn't be up by then.

So if a question asked something like: "Explain the recent trends in unemployment"
- would I start from like 1990 or , late 2000s? Or CURRENT year?

depends what you are talking about, but to me, recent can be up to a few years for something like economic growth. i mean if you are talking about recent trends in unemployment you are going to want to talk about some of the structural factors which necessarily go beyond the last year or so.
