I just studied so very hard for BS yesterday, maybe 7? 8 hours or so, and I did all case studies, went into my exam today and couldnt put pen to paper, all I did was MC/short answer and half the section III, i didnt even do section IV I knew the answer but I couldnt just write it! i knew all the answers, I even had 2 case studies to back it up

something was eating me up inside and i knew what it was, my mum told me yesterday she has cancer and then I just gave up, within an hour of the exam I gave my exam in and left, (I did alot for an hour though), I don't know whether to feel good or bad, BS is my 12th unit but Im not going too well in it, my ranks only 29/130 compared to other subjects its really dodgy, also I always managed to get only between 50%-65% mark for it, I even realised why i went so bad in reports but I still just couldn't do it

I dont know what hte hel is wrong with me, a mix of burnt out? stressed? I still knew the course but I might just drop the subject, I filled in illnes misadventure, I am so disorientated, I was at hurstville and I walked downstairs then realised kmart was all the way upstairs, argh :(

I mean i find chemistry easier than BS, and the remainder 2 exams I got IT/SDD im looking forward to doing, but something just doesnt want me to do BS, but at the same time Im aiming to do applied finance at uni! wouldn't that mean thats a bad idea since they're both business related? ( I enjoyed studying for finance topic in BS though)

sorry for letting it all out here but its eating me up inside,

I'm sorry to hear that your mum isn't well. :(

The fact that you have heard news worse than failing the HSC has probably made you "give up" in your exams.

But feeling bad won't do anything (I know it sounds mean, but it's true). I'd probably try and balance between study and making your mum feel comfortable and happy. That might make you feel better. Try and study less at the same time (because as you have mentioned, it might be cause from burning out as well).

my dad was diagnosed with cancer when i was 6. and now im no psychiatrist or anything but i think what happened was the shock of your mother telling you of her diagnosis. I'm sure you can get misadventures for this kind of shock?
I'm sorry to hear about your mother, just be strong, stick together and remember that 80% of the cure is positive thinking :) or so they told me when i was little.

yeah you can, my friend got one because these guys broke into her house and bashed up her dad in front of her and trashed her house, and the school gave her special provisions for shock....i'm sure that your situation would warrant the same allowances, or at least it should...

i'm really sorry to hear about your mum, there's been cancer in my family too and its difficult to deal with on top of school stress. I hope things get better for you :)

thanks for the support guys! I feel a little bit better now, but I dont think I should bother with illness / misadventure, I put one in anyway but I'll probably end up dropping business studies
everyone told meI Was the business minded person but seriously the only topics I like for BS are marketing and finance, the rest I see is pointless ... hope too my mum gets better, you guys are real supportive! I'll try to get the exam back and post it up for the other years to use

oh steve... i hope everything's alright with your mom and stuff.

i'm sure you haven't bombed out too badly but seriously do the misadventure form, it can help a lot. and even if it is your 12th unit you know you're doing well enough in everything else so you don't have to worry about it too much.

i'll talk to you later ok? but good luck with everything!

That must be really hard for you. Put in the misadventure, but don't drop the course. You never know, you might do better thatn you think.

I did a similar thing in my maths ext 2 exam today. I did part of one question, and heard car brakes screeching outside. I totally lost it, burst into tears and left the exam, after just 20 minutes. (I was in a car accident last week, I was driving, and I'm still a bit freaked out by it).

Teachers are generally pretty understanding though. They seem to realise how much things stress us out at the moment.
I hope everything turns out ok for you.

Hope your mum's well. If it was me, I wouldn't have been able to write anything at all.

There was a girl from Sydney Girls whose mum died right before her HSC. She still did all her exams, but imagine that...

Hey, at least BS is your 12th unit. It sounds like you're doing fine in everything else. It shouldn't be a major problem. File the illness and misadventure form anyway, I'm quite sure your case won't be rejected.

Good luck. :)

oh crap, sorry to hear your mum is unwell mate. Such things can happen, but cheer up, since BS is ur 12th unit, it either won't count towards your UAI, or you'll do mighty fine and count towards, but by reading it seems you've got your other subject backing you up pretty solidly.~

good luck mate, hope your mother gets better~ my grandpa just died yesterday so, yeah, shocking news

I hope your mum gets better :( And ofcourse you couldn't do the exam - I'd have difficulty if I'd heard news like that beforehand.

dw, casimir, if u arent really interested in BS, just drop it, there is no point on continuing. But if u think u can improve those marks, keep at it you never know. Anyway about your mum, i feel so sorry for u, i hope she gets better , if there are any problems, u could always rite a letter to BOS, and ask for sum leniency, they mite reduce ur uai entry mark.
