just do the best you can, your knowledge of how its scaled or not doesnt influence your mark. so dont worry about that. :)

Scaled marks can be compared to other subjects.

A scaled mark of 100 in English Advanced and a scaled mark of 100 in English Standard is the same thing.

Getting a scaled mark of 100 in Chemistry is the same as getting 100 in Latin.

But we never get to see our scaled marks so why worry? :D

I know.

Most of them use advanced words just to sound good.

I guess it works.

I expect to see your essay there in the Standards package 2003 pigs! :D

And it's gonna be under "Exemplar!"

I agree. Who knows what goes on in the minds of those markers?

...i have a question..

if the top 16% who receive band 6 results total around 10, 500 in number, then how much chance do you think someone like me, from byron, would have?.....cos i know many of those ppl would be from selective scools and other schools in sydney.....

my mo hist teacher sed they dont like to use the very best essays and stuff as exemplar samples, cos people read them and just lose hope of ever getting to that standard, so they use the ones that werent quite that elite, but still met all the criteria etc..

Wouldn't it be more like they don't use the best responses so ppl don't plagiarise them? I mean...everyone agrees that the Adv English exemplars seem to be of a pretty poor standard for full marks.

stereotyping ppl is bad

but i think laz is right. exemplars are meant to be full markers, although sometimes they kinda don't look like it at all. so *shrugs*, who knows?
