i have to do a summary of a text and then say its purpose and its audience... i dont get what they want as an answer... ?

what is the purpose meaning

what is the text trying to do? is it trying to inform you? trying to tell you a story? trying to change your ideology? is it propaganda? what is its target audience and what is its purpose of creation who is it created for etc ?
