Quick survey time. Select your WAM from the list. If you don't know how to calculate WAM or your uni uses GPA, just put down the mean of the marks from all the subjects you have done so far. Also consider making a comment regarding what year you're in or reply with some witty BoS humour.

Yeah, because UNSW wants to keep the 'prestige' of their Advanced courses. So if I get 70 or higher, I'm fine. If I get 65 to 69, then they'll give me a talking to (but let's face it, if I get 65-69 now, then there's not much hope - probably - of getting any better, later) and warn me. If I get 64 or below, they'll most likely transfer me to normal Comm/Sci or Comm or just Science. Regardless, I'll be out of Adv. Maths.

That SUCKS. Surely they'll let you off with a warning the first time though.

Probably. But if I end up with a WAM below 60 then I think they'll just say "how the f- did you get into adv maths in the first place..." before kicking me out.

No that's bad, they may raise the cut-off for the '11-ers then =P

Why does it matter if they raise the cut-off? Not like it'll change anything for you, let others work harder, wont hurt you no matter what.

True, but if I get kicked out of the course I'll be kicked out of the course. I think as long as I do well in maths, I think I could persuade them to keep me in the course. If my mark in SCIF drops me below 70 - I'll cry foul, because it's almost end of the semester and I've only gotten one assignment mark back: 7.5/10. I'm not sure about the other 90 marks for that course or whatever.

2nd year now. 90-100...
high wams with maths are easy as shit, I could easily get 85+ WAM if I was doing maths , I should be doing it instead of engineering since my maths is so much higher than my other subjects, problem is the degree is so useless and unpractical. Also I would probably get bored after a while. You might get high marks but you still have the same future as an arts student

yes it might be easier. But in first year i did most of the same subjects as engineering anyway... i did maths, phys, computing.
there are only 3 first year math courses at unsw. math 1a, 1b and discrete maths. and most engineerings do both the maths..

i think its around 70 give or take, but not sure, depends how i went this sem. Got a HD for accounting so thats a good start, if my other marks are half decent I think it will be between 70 and 75 maybe.

would've been higher if I didn't fuck up year 1 sem 1. ah well I've got another 3 years to inflate it as much as possible.
