"Crime fiction emphasises not only the criminal act but also its social context."
To what extent is this statement reflected in the texts you have studied?
Is social context like this:
For e.g. with The Big Sleep, it was made after WW2, so through the characterisation of people etc it shows the corruption and immorality of the people? The whole "loosening of morals" thing?
