case study / augustan principate

umm something along the lines of:

society: early new kingdom egypt
personality: hatshepsut

society: early imperial rome
personality: augustus

ancient history rules, and i dont enjoy modern either. i dont understand people who can do both -- so much info!
our teacher was really mean for our half yearlies and we had to do everything to date. which sucked. and he expected heaps of detail too. so anyway. that result is still to come *Ew*

anyone know any good sources on the Augustan Principate? ive got an assessment on it, and our teacher isnt planning on going through it at all.

I thought Augustus and the Julio Claudians was really interesting, I have quite a thing about Rome... I love Rome :) Well, I'm sure I would if I actually went there! I love studying it anyway. Funny people, the Romas :)

augustus is also a personality
in the same way that hatshepsut is a personality, and fits into the early new kingdom period.
we've been lucky that way..our course is divided into egyptian and roman, and the two courses within that draw from each other. :D

i fell in love with cleopatra when i was a kid...after reading... the memoirs of cleopatra...cant remember who by...anyway. wish we were doing her!

And something to do with the Roman Empire or something then she was going to cram another module in to just get some background knowledge we're all so dumb that I don't think she will do that anymore. :chainsaw:

I'm honestly surprised by the fact that only one other person is doing Julius Caesar. I suppose I thought Caesar would be a popular choice, but I was obviously wrong. :)

I'm doing exactly the same as Fiona.

Julius is too common so teachers won't pick it, and the fact that there are so many teachers out there that specialise in Rome know that it's a common choice.

My teacher hates all the politics of Rome, so we steered clear of that. I'm doing:
Personality- Hatshepsut
Ancient societies- Old kingdom Egypt, Mycenae
Historical Period- New kingdom Egypt to death of Thutmose IV
