hi!

for english advanced you should be getting ahead with your prescribed texts for mod A (or whatever mod you’re doing, unless it’s mod C). if it’s a film, watch it online (if u can’t find it use those illegal websites). if it’s a shakespearean play, read it in the original version and then have the modern translated version infront of you and make notes/highlight points that you find important i.e. quotes, techniques, themes etc.

i think with mod A it’s really not that deep and english advanced as a whole is not a subject where you need to be 1000 steps ahead. if you just know your texts inside and out + back to back, you’ll be able to relax a bit in class and apply your knowledge within class discussions.

also make sure you are super familiar with the rubric/syllabus for whatever module you’re doing. there are so many websites and youtube videos that thoroughly explain the module, so do a deep dive! make sure you are staying up-to-date with language/film/poetic techniques and testing your knowledge on different ones e.g. quizzes

for maths advanced however, it is super important that you are constantly apply your knowledge to various questions. whatever you got wrong last term make sure you’re fixing your mistakes and actually understanding WHY you got it wrong and HOW to get it right. i’d say just do one maths exercise every 2-3 days and make sure to keep a book/notes on the questions you struggle with. the good thing about maths is that you don’t need to be at school, u can pretty much find a bunch of hsc maths teachers on youtube. same goes for extension!

remember that maths is all about applying, so make sure you actually UNDERSTAND the concept and not just “knowing” how to do it. this is super important because in the hsc, questions won’t be styled the same as your textbook - they are way more theoretical and require extensive knowledge (mainly because you aren’t told which part of the maths textbook the question is from, so you have to be prepared!)

as for physics, i’m not a science girlie so idk what to tell you - but from my friends who have gotten band 6s in chem and bio, they usually say that science subjects are really easy to get good marks in because there is only ONE RIGHT ANSWER - just like maths. so making sure that you know the syllabus is vital. a raw band 5 in physics will suffice to possibly a band 6, so don’t stress too much. if you’re falling behind in physics or not meeting your academic goals, i’d say to seek a tutor ASAP so you can get ahead during these holidays. (same goes for any other subject tbh)

i’m doing business studies and all i can tell you is one thing - MEMORISE THE SYLLABUS. business studies is super straightforward and possibly my easiest hsc subject. to memorise the syllabus just make your notes on the topic, have a case study for each dot point and for each case study have the advantages/disadvantages it had on the business. for business studies you really just have to follow this formula when answering most 3+ markers:

1. define the key term in the question
2. list 2-3 advantages
3. list 2-3 disadvantages
4. overall impact on the business
5. how the business responded e.g. did it fix a certain aspect of their business, change, remove etc

obviously this format and amount of listing will differ on a question-by-question basis, but the general rule for a HIGH b6 in business is to follow that layout (ESPECIALLY IN EXTENDED RESPONSES).

additionally, go back on the topic you did last term and do a quick revision e.g. a quiz. make sure you’re keeping up-to-date with your notes and you’ll be perfectly set.

business studies is really easy, so i’d say focus more on eng adv, physics & ur 3U. best of luck!!! i hope you reach your ATAR goal 😀😀
