yeah i do the same as all you. i hope the texts aren't really long though. In any exam that requires and esay type wuestion you should always read it first so you have it mulling in the back of your head.

For section one, do you guys read the questions before you read the texts or read the texts, then the questions, then read them again?

I read the questions then the texts, so I know what to look out for.

Tips for overall exam:
- Remember in section one, they're most likely going to ask things about techniques, context, etc, so make sure you know the meaning behind these words and how to locate them in a given text.
- Techniques should form a major part of any response you do, read this file (even print it out) to check all the different technique types and how to locate them.
- Remember in an essay (or other article), do not write "this uses so so technique" without showing the quote of what the actual technique is!
- Do not rewrite the text.
- Little is more, do not think that just by throwing in many quotes is going to get you a higher grade, one quote with a moderately good examination of it is better than ten quotes without any.
- Try and be original in section two, if you make it creative then the marker will most likely enjoy it more and be compelled to give you better marks because of that.
- READ THE QUESTION, and answer it. If you re-read your answer and find that you haven't done so, and if you think you have time, re-do it.

Just think about it this way, this is the final time you'll ever have to write anything about the English modules, so make it the best you can. Go into the exam room with a positive attitude and say to yourself "Damn, I'm gonna do good".

Erm, can I remind everyone not to underline anything during reading time... biiiig penalties for people caught with a pen or highlighter.
Reading time is exactly that, reading time.

Babydoll once told me to underline or make a mental note of words like analyse, list, describe, explain etc.

Flick through to Sections 2/3, in order to start pondering about them, then go back to Section 1, and read the texts...

Just remember that we get ten minutes reading time tomorrow. :) [For familarities sake, but I'm sure most people are ok with the lay-out]

Glance at the Section III question, but dont think about it, and the read, and reread the Section I texts and questions. Think about the composition last, since thats probably the easiest section
