It's difficult to speculate GaNeSh- it can change every year, I think there seems to be less people doing Commerce nowadays due to the perceived oversupply so the cutoff may go down.

Although if I had a UAI of 93.20 I probably would've preferred to study at UTS (B Business).

Well i really want to major in accounting and i have read that in the b/economics courses at UNSW and USYD you can actually major in accounting and the degree will be professionally recognised for CPA/CA programs...

I'm not sure about CPA, but I know with CA all the requirements are listed on their website (either http://www.icaa.org.au or http://www.flyhigher.com.au )- check under "Elegibility" for the CA program. There's more to it than just doing the right degree, you also have to be doing the right subjects as well. As for Economics, I'm not entirely sure about whether that is elegible for CA; but I know that UTS B Business and UNSW B Commerce (and presumably USYD B Commerce) are elegible.

It should also be noted entrance requirements/prerequesites have changed recently to allow a broader range of people to commence the CA program in the future- it's somewhere on the ICAA site.

I believe so- it would seem that the majority of accounting cadets choose to study B Business at UTS not just because it's got a lower UAI requirement, but also because of the practicality of the course, the convenient location of the campus (no jokes), and the 24 hour business faculty facilities... and most importantly I think is that (based on what I've heard) the Accounting major there satisfies the prereqs for CA making life a lot easier.

For CA recognition @ USYD you merely must complete

* ACCT1001 Accounting IA
* ACCT1002 Accounting IB
* ACCT2011 Financial Accounting A
* ACCT2012 Management Accounting A
* ACCT3011 Financial Accounting B
* ACCT3012 Management Accounting B
* ACCT3014 Auditing
* CLAW1001 Commercial Transactions A
* CLAW2201 Corporations Law
* CLAW3201 Australian Taxation System
* FINC2011 Corporate Finance I

Of them, only the three bold subjects are not counted as part of an Accounting Major.

you guys are all confused and don't know what your taking about, i think, i think i'm not really thinking!
give the guy a break. look mate your one point off you'll get in i know guys with 90's that got in on hecs last year, just keep it first preference till the final round. secondly CA is hard to get and rigorous, so its morde likel a uni would offer cpa i don't see why it wouldn't offer both ANU does.

and if ever in doubt ring the uni talk to the faculty, instead speculating on the basis of on-line rubbish
