I got my UAI a couple of days ago and it was 97.5. Thats well above the 95 required last year, although people say it was actually 96.5. Why would they list it as 95 even though it was 96.5? And do you guys think i'll be able to make it with my score for law @ ANU 2008? I'm really scared i can't, seeing how law is increasing so much every year.

trust me it won't get over 97.5. i don't think it ever has (maybe 10 or so years ago when it was 98).

The UAI cutoff was 96.5 the year before last. It went back down to 95. Personally I think the cutoff will go up now that Melbourne's law course is postgraduate but I doubt that it will get any higher than 96.5.

call them and ask them outright - anything posted here on the forums would only be speculation.. say you want to do law and you've got 97 and ask the kind person on the other line (they won't bite) to tell you if you're likely to get in. remember, not all melbourne kids are interested in moving to a (somewhat perceived) boring city to study undergrad law... they'll prefer to be close to their friends and perhaps spend a few years later on doing postgrad law.

all courses over 98 tend to be those which are specialised to high-fliers... like computational science honours, or bachelor of philosophy, or engineering honours. something as plain and common as a law degree... i doubt the cutoff will be high. if anything it'll remain constant and anu will just have to cater for more law kids in the lecture theaters or move the law lectures to a bigger theater.

so quit worrying, phone them and hope to get a definite answer and hope for the best :D and enjoy your holidays

I meant you will probably want to download more than 250 gigs of stuff onto your hard drive at any given time hehe.

How much is a 250 gig HD these days anyway? If anecdotal evidence from Evilo is right, then my new 500gig HD probably won't be enough, damn.

dyun, ive been researching. 500GB will cost you about $200 (yes you can get it for less, yes you can get it for more, but thats the best mainstream price around)
250GB would probably set you back 130-140

I love my HDD *hugs lacie*
