Lets say you were sitting a maths hsc assessment task (test) and you suspect that someone has copied an answer, and they are one of your good friends....


What would you do?

Would you tell the teacher? Would you confront them?

tell the teacher right after the exam, i cheated in an exam once
the guy i copied it of was to scared to tell the teacher

its too late now, if something like that ever happens you need to give the person a huge dirty so that they know that you know whats going on, and if you're really shitty bout it you need to tell the teacher straight after the test.

Well this situation happened to me and l told the teacher..while asking the opinions of others (not mentioing names) but our school is small and word would get around.

This was yesterday at the end of the day and l rang my friend (who l told the teacher on) and she said that she was just a little bit angry...l didn't want to lose a friend.

if it was an in class assesment then u should dob the person in, if it was a hsc exam then dont do anything about it coz every mark counts towards the "pool" of marks obtained by ur grade which will ultimatley benefit u.....lol

It was an in class assessment...but the question s was only worth 1 mark...

I told the teacher not to worry...l took it back. I rang her and told her everything but she said its ok but she was a little bit angry.

Last year one of the girls at school (a semi-friend) got extra time in a maths assessment cos she supposedly didn't see a page of the test until the end when she was going through it (which means in theory that she wouldn't have had time to do even if she had seen it) so she had a big cry to the teacher (who was 'coincidently' her mentor) and he gave her extra time. I didn't do maths so I didn't really care but once word got around there was a HUGE uproar and people weren't hesitant in showing that they didn't think it was fair.

well l was angry...but its only worth 1 mark..if it was worth 4 marks then yeah l wouldn't be too happy. Also l don't have any proof that she did..l'm guessing that l saw her glane at my paper out of the corner of my eye, l'm not 100% sure she did.

If someone's cheated, they know they've cheated, and they also know they could get caught.

If they were cheating, they shouldn't get angry with you, they know they were doing something wrong.

Thats what my parents said...but she claimed to me that she didn't cheat (l know l shouldn't believe every word she says) l think she's angry at me for thinking that she did cheat - when she didn't...l'm so confused about all this

In that case, you could be in a bit of strife. Not having trust in your friends is a bad thing.

If you're not 100% sure, just ask them after the exam. No matter what they did, they'll deny they cheated. But inside they know what they really did, and if they're decent people (Then again, cheaters aren't decent, meh) they'll own up to it.

Its not that l don't trust her, but l just had that feeling...its hard to explain. like l said l rang her and explained and l apologized about a million times..then we talked about normal stuff for about 2 hours after that.

Ok thanks....the only thing l'm worried about now is that the teacher will still deduct marks even though l told him to forget about it.
