My personal view is that "ultra" is not an ideological stand point its more like a 1 issue thing..... like... "there policy on Iraq is sooo ultra left" Far left implies my views are not emperical... they are, but really that doesnt mean much... in some places I would be worthy of jail in some... im a reformist wanker... left suits...

Appologies about the double posting... please tell me how the proleteriat are causing havoc in Venezuela... or maybe you dont know too much about a country where 90% of people are poor, and there fighting back with real solutions in education that is ending ignorance and moving them forward. Or real solutions in health. You interpret my udnerstanding of marxism as so literal that it is a discredit to you intellectuality.

wow that was a long time coming... tommy this thread used to be alternative and progressive, until National Action started recruiting young people to their racist posse.

Chomsky describes himself as being a member of the 'ultra left' because he has more sympathies for the ararchists.
It's not hard to see his point-of-view in America. No government would protect more people than US NeoCon-tism would.

According to the compass thing, I'm left, at about the same point as Ghandi...

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -6.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.59

In the space of, what, 6 months, I've become more left, and slightly more liberal.

I use to enjoy coming to the NCAP threads, back when Asquithian was around, back before the dark times, before Anti-Mathmite.

That's cause Moonlight's the only person actually putting up a fight. You use to be a heavy weight in the debate arena as well but it seems no one can be bothered to put up real arguments with sources and related text to back up their arguments anymore.

I'd like to think that I am weighing in abit more, though no one (not even his new self) can fill asqy's shoes....

I think its a fairly sad state of affairs but AM is among the more balanced of the new crop. Tommy for example is at the bottom, he seems to have little ability to reason far less debate in a logical coherant manner. Having pretty convincingly argued against his points his response was a simply "you are extremely misguided".

Well often at the moment the position I am arguing is often the same as most of the other NCAP posters... at least on the topics that have been being discussed lately

I have to say that I have noticed an odd influx of randoms lately and... well I wouldn't say 'nutters' entirely, rather "very staunch religious people" and "people of relatively extreme convictions". Mind you that's not so bad when they can put up a remotely decent argument. To be honest it's the people with really poor grammar who structure their posts in such a way that make my eyes bleed that annoy me the most.

I have to say I'm comfortable with AM now though, he seems reasonable now.

I'm not really sure what the solution is. I've tried to pump some life into the forum by having debates and filtering the annoying or unrelated crap into a subforum. Being able to look down the list of topics and only see relatively credible or discussion-worthy issues is helpful.

It's probably the fact that a lot of the old members have gone - neo, rorix, twisted, for example, and Leetom seems infrequent now as well. Members like NTB and Generator, etc are still here but aren't as active I guess (myself included).

I will be leaving BOS in the near future too, around the end of February.
