Yeah, so there are more of you, yet you still fail at dominating the forum. Says a lot about your ability to argue/the overall quality of your ideology, doesn't it?
Either that or they're better at keeping their opinions to themselves? Politics and religion, and all that jazz. The other reason they may seem to be failing at forum domination is the idea that there are certain members who will always have their say and there's no reason to argue with them. A case of making yourselves known when nobody cares, maybe? ;)

Anyway, I took it again. The results are quite shocking. I support free market and civil liberties... while that's on the Liberal Party's mission statement, I feel they seem to be omitting the civil liberties part at the moment. That being said, if a choice needs to be made and it's market freedom versus individual freedom, I support individual freedom... perhaps Liberal with a 'small l'.

But according to this I'm a regular Dali Lama (except more liberal, and less communist):
Economic Left/Right: -3.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.36

After looking at this, it's quite surprising. Oh well.

Nice contribution there you idiot. Most people in that poll are inactive anyway.
You haven't in any way improved the status of the left here, you've just given conservatives abundant ammunition.
When you claim to represent the left it loses. IT LOSES.

Did the test again...

Economic Left/Right: -8.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.77

I'm irrationally prejudiced against money handlers and the likes.

lol

Well all I really did was 'agree' to questions such as "What's good for somebody isn't necessarily good for everyone else" and "sometimes government intervention is needed to protect worker's rights"...

I believe those things, imho it's not that 'lefty' to say for instance that we need a minimum wage and that SOMETIMES people will be exploited and minor government interferance is needed for such times.

As for the other test:

Overall, the PoliticsForum quiz considers you an individually-orientated, materialist, small-government, internationalist, free-trade, non-absolutist, kind of person, who doesn't sound like a Marxist.
These characteristics would put you in the overall category of libertarian.

What's interesting are the percentages, so allow me to post them as well:

You scored 9 out of 100 on a scale of Individual vs Social. This means that politically you are less likely to value the need for group actions and group benefit over individual enterprise and benefit.
* 1% of test takers were more individual than you.
* 98% of test takers were more social than you.

You scored 66 out of 100 on a scale of Theist vs Materialist. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that religion and spirituality are superstitions that should not inform political debate.
* 57% of test takers were more theist than you.
* 42% of test takers were more materialist than you.
polok's note: This was interesting. I was rather neutral in religious questions, except for the seperation of church and state... where I strongly agreed. As far as religion goes, it's an individual's right, and choice. The government has no place in religion. Perhaps being neutral in some questions meant I was just placed in the centre?

You scored 69 out of 100 on a scale of Big Government vs Small Government. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that government should keep out of legislating social policies, leaving such decisions to individuals.
* 74% of test takers were more big government than you.
* 25% of test takers were more small government than you.
polok's note: I'm surprised with the percentages here. I didn't get a high score to small government, but still only 25% of people think government should be smaller. It seems maybe we're in an age where people need to be told what to do and think, rather than work it out for themselves?

You scored 72 out of 100 on a scale of Nationalist vs Internationalist. This means that politically you are more likely to favour international bodies over national ones.
* 75% of test takers were more nationalist than you.
* 23% of test takers were more internationalist than you.
polok's note: I thought percentages would be similar to this. Perhaps those 23% of test takers are Eurocentric, and the 75% are mainly Americans or Eurosceptic? ;)

You scored 92 out of 100 on a scale of Protectionist vs Free Trader. This means that politically you are more likely to favour free trade over protectionist policies.
* 92% of test takers were more protectionist than you.
* 7% of test takers were more pro free trade than you.

You scored 71 out of 100 on a scale of Absolutist vs Non Absolutist. This means that politically you are less likely to believe that there is an absolute truth that may guide your ideological beliefs.
* 91% of test takers were more absolutist than you.
* 7% of test takers were more non-absolutist than you.

You scored 52 out of 100 on a scale of Controlled Market vs Liberal Market. This means that politically you are neither more nor less likely to believe that there is need for government regulation of industry.
* 73% of test takers were more controlled market thinkers than you.
* 26% of test takers were more liberal market thinkers than you.
polok's note: I actually thought the number would be a little higher. Though I did say trade unions were necessary, and there should be a minimum wage, but then I also said that corporations should be able to hire and fire at whim (it's up to the trade union to fight this if they feel it's wrong, not the government). The percentages were also surprising, considering I'm in the centre and I'm in the top 27%.

You scored 69 out of 100 on a scale of Marxist vs Non-Marxist. This means that politically you are less likely to follow the philosophies of Marx.
* 92% of test takers were more Marxist than you.
* 7% of test takers were more non-Marxist than you.
polok's note: Why is that number low? I don't follow Marx at all.

I'd be interested in seeing some opinions on this, if you want to PM me or reply with it?

Individual vs Social
"The individualist believes that society works best through a focus on individual rights, freedoms, actions and responsibilities. The social thinker believes that the ideal state should focus more upon collective action and take a social approach to rights and responsibilities."

Individual Social

You scored 40 out of 100 on a scale of Individual vs Social. This means that politically you are neither more nor less likely to value the need for group actions and group benefit over individual enterprise and benefit.

19% of test takers were more individual than you.
80% of test takers were more social than you.

Theist vs Materialist
"The materialist believes that all objective criteria to influence politics can be reasonably derived without recourse to the divine or the spiritual. The theist believes that spiritual beliefs are important and should influence government policy."

Theist Materialist

You scored 89 out of 100 on a scale of Theist vs Materialist. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that religion and spirituality are superstitions that should not inform political debate.

92% of test takers were more theist than you.
7% of test takers were more materialist than you.

Big Government vs Small Government
"The big government advocate believes that governments should be responsible for regulating a wide array of social practices, even what might be considered personal decisions such as abortion, euthanasia, children's education and births. A small government advocate thinks that, wherever possible, these issues should be up to individuals or companies to direct."

Big Gov Small Gov

You scored 70 out of 100 on a scale of Big Government vs Small Government. This means that politically you are more likely to believe that government should keep out of legislating social policies, leaving such decisions to individuals.

75% of test takers were more big government than you.
23% of test takers were more small government than you.

Nationalist vs Internationalist
"The nationalist believes in the sovereign rule of nation states, particularly his or her own. The internationalist believes that there should be more important international fora and perhaps, ultimately, international government."

National International

You scored 44 out of 100 on a scale of Nationalist vs Internationalist. This means that politically you are neither more nor less likely to favour international bodies over national ones.

22% of test takers were more nationalist than you.
77% of test takers were more internationalist than you.

Protectionist vs Free Trader
"The protectionist believes in barriers against free trade most probably due to a belief that this is in his or her country's interests. The free trader rejects such notions, believing that the system ultimately suffers when tariffs, subsidies and other obstacles to free trade persist."

Protection Free-Trade

You scored 48 out of 100 on a scale of Protectionist vs Free Trader. This means that politically you are neither more nor less likely to favour free trade over protectionist policies.

39% of test takers were more protectionist than you.
59% of test takers were more pro free trade than you.

Absolutist vs Non-Absolutist
"The absolutist believes that either a divine presence or scientific laws provide absolute truths about the world, which can and should be applied in practise. The non-absolutist may be either a relativist, or simply someone who is more pragmatic."

Absolute Non-Absolute

You scored 70 out of 100 on a scale of Absolutist vs Non Absolutist. This means that politically you are less likely to believe that there is an absolute truth that may guide your ideological beliefs.

89% of test takers were more absolutist than you.
9% of test takers were more non-absolutist than you.

Controlled Market vs Liberal Market
"Both of these categories assume a capitalist system. Assuming this system, the controlled market believer holds that government should intervene in regulating a nation's economy: wage laws, environmental standards, privatised industries and workplace relations policy. A liberal market thinker believes that such regulation is unnecessary and often counter-productive."

Controlled Liberal

You scored 40 out of 100 on a scale of Controlled Market vs Liberal Market. This means that politically you are neither more nor less likely to believe that there is need for government regulation of industry.

54% of test takers were more controlled market thinkers than you.
44% of test takers were more liberal market thinkers than you.

Marxist vs Non-Marxist
"This scale purports to show to what extent you follow the thought and teachings of Marx. Marxists tend to be scientific, materialist and revolutionary, believe in class struggle and the laws of historical and dialectic materialism."

Marxist Non-Marxist

You scored 49 out of 100 on a scale of Marxist vs Non-Marxist. This means that politically you are neither more nor less likely to follow the philosophies of Marx.

53% of test takers were more Marxist than you.
44% of test takers were more non-Marxist than you.

"Social justice" insofar as affirmative action, wealth redistribution and the like is a left wing economic stance, not a social stance per se.

The test conflates economic leftism with governmental control, for example I don't support things like "social justice" or "affirmative action" that withoutaface has correctly Identified as leftist economic and social stances, then there are golden questions in the quiz such as "If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations." I mean who would disagree with that, you'd have to be pretty brainwashed by the monetarist school to forget the fact that corporations are just collectives of people anyway.
