usyd is 96 or so for psychology from memory. hehe but in the late round wollongong had high 98's or so.
I think the good uni guide is best to go to for a question such as this. Have a look at avg starting wage and employment

undergrad psyche for unsw is better than undergrad psyche at macquarie (or so i've been told) however i'de do post grad at macquarie for sure!!

maq has a lot of psych positions, so maybe thats why the uai is lower? it doesn't necessarily mean that because the uai is lower than its not as good as a uni with a higher uai.

That's incorrect. UNSW has the largest, and best psychology school.

i beg to differ on the largest psychology school... macquarie has a bigger one than unsw... in terms of offer of places, department and number of options u can specialise in

Found this info
i'de like to know where he got it from?? not to sound rude but as i Pmed you before natstar (and you didn't reply :( ) is where did he get the info from? because before i started my degree i researched psychology (i thought pretty well) only the net though, however once i realised i wanted to do psychology as a career... i rang around, asked around etc and i've been told repeatedly that unsw was one the best places to goto, along with macquarie, uws was never mentioned... in nsw anyway.

i wanna see statistics.. it doesn't bother me that uws would have the best if thats what your thinking, it wouldn't surprise me either, i woulda transferred to uws if it were true... so much closer.... i want to know where this information can be found mainly for interest purposes because its related to the profession i want to get into.

RE UWS:
http://verify.idp.com/nl/article52.asp
We have the largest psychology school in NSW and the second largest in Australia, which means that our students have greater opportunities to specialise in their chosen field of pschology. Our programs allow students to purse and accredited course through a number of degrees.

USYD:
Welcome to the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney.

We were the first established School of Psychology in Australia and are currently one of the largest and most prestigious. Our school is proud of the combination of tradition and excellence that characterizes our research and teaching efforts.

Our graduates have a conspicuous record of success: many are now department heads and senior staff in universities and clinical settings around the world, and many have achieved excellence in industry, the media, and politics.

New south:
The School has an active research program that is highly competitive by both national and international benchmarks, with particular strengths in behavioural neuroscience, [blah blah] and forensic psychology.
The School maintains a collegial and interdisciplinary environment that facilitates interactions between basic and applied researchers working in different domains. This active and supportive research environment together with modern and well-equipped research laboratories provides support for approximately 50 PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

maq:
Macquarie has a growing reputation as a distinctive centre of excellence for philosophical research. The Department of Philosophy has an innovative and vibrant research culture, benefiting from the presence of a number of philosophical and inter-disciplinary perspectives, and consistently producing high-level research publications in a wide range of central areas.

of course they all think they are topshit when it comes to philosophy.
in phil its hard to be bad and easy to be mediocre

i don't think there is a 'best' uni then. For all people who want to do psychology, i think it is safe to say that any of these uni's are great with psychology and if you do well in grades then you wont be disadvantaged or disapointed, regardless of your choice.

uws is number 7 in a specific area of psychology (educational psychology research) and not psychology overall.

UNSW is supreme in the southern hemisphere for gifted psychology (and is among the top in America, too). It is also very strong in the other psychology disciplines.

The point is, that UNSW, while it may or may not be the top, is none the less damn good and I hardly think there would be any difference. At that level, it's all up to you whether or not you do well.

This is all childish piffle. It all sounds like na.. na.. na my uni's better than yours stuff.
Fact is, all universities must comply with APA guidelines when it comes to their psych courses if they wish for their courses to be accredited by the APA. All that means is ALL the Universities teach the SAME thing at undergraduate level.
By all means squabble when it comes to post grad stuff with Clinical psych etc. , but as for undergraduate psych- they're all the same when it comes to the accredited sequence that you MUST have if you wish to do post grad. Some may have more options, but all unis have the core courses that you must do for the APA to accredit them.
Motto- don't worry whether you do your undergrad psych at SYd, UNSW or MAcca's. Go to the UNI that's closest to home.
