Obviously Mining and Petroleum is booming atm, but other than those two
What other engineering discipline offers

-Highest pay
-Highest emplyment rate (and where eg research or work)
-and best working conditions

I heard Civil, Mechanical and Electrical is easy to find a job, but what about sub disciplines like Mechatronics, electronics or biomedical?

There is a good site for salary information: http://content.mycareer.com.au/salary-centre/?s_cid=215859

but im interested in the demand and prospects of a career as an engineer, can anyone provide any useful information?

pick a generic engineering like elec or mechanical.

that way if you decide you are happy to put up with the rural isolation then you can get into a high paying mining job as there are plenty of general engineering jobs available at the moment.

and also it means if you decide you would rather live in the city/suburbs then you are more likely to find a job with your qualifications.

don't look at the salary figures - the bottom line is that if you are good at what you do then you will have the opportunity to earn lots!
