Hi i need to increase the ram on my notebook. I want to buy a single 2gb stick, effectively upgrading my notebook to 3gb RAM. Does anyone know a place or site that sells the single stick and is cheap?

Depends where you live. But its usually worth it to goto MSY. Unless of course it costs 20 bucks to get there.

Just email or call in whether they have stock or not. They're always out of stock, but i guess that's not surprising given the prices they offer.

It's less the prices than the fact that 90% of their stock fell off the back of a truck.

StaticIce is good for the absolute cheapest price but if you're just after a moderately cheap stick and can't be fucked with postage just go down to your local retailer and if they're any good they should only be a few dollars more expensive.

ARC and MSY are good examples of this. ZIP Computers in Liverpool and Campbelltown is also fair.

Ebay's a great place for obtaining ram sticks. I recently upgraded the family computer from 256MB 2 1.256GB for 46 bucks...
This is quite cheap.
Search for "Rambo" ram sticks on ebay, as these are usually cheap.

Catch a train to Central station and make your way to Capitol..the place with a lot of photo machines >.> theres a whole IT area up there..cheap and good service plus plenty of shops..if you go right to end theres a AustraliaDigital? best stuff and they know what to do..my ultimate shopping paradise ^^

(Capitol is next to Paddy's Market and China Town..where its like a small busy alleyway, a 7-eleven out front and some pub..o yeh its uptairs, food court on the bottom)

I doubt his motherboard supports DDR3 DIMMs. Secondly, 1066MHZ RAM is ridiculous for a Laptop, he could probably find 2GBs of Corsair or Kingston Value RAM on eBay for around $60.

Seriously, enough with the MSY fanboys. Go to IT Estate, heaps better, bought all my parts from there.

Built a few of my friend's rigs from there too.

I've rung MSY so many times and heard 'no stok' that I just give up on them.
so true
I'd rather pay a bit of a premium for good service and the fact that what I need will be in stock..
