I'm pretty sure the genersal maths course IS scaled a lot more poorly than maths.

My english teacher said the main reason to do english adv is because 'the outcomes involved in standard make it difficult to achieve high marks', but I don't know what shes talking about :(

Yes, that same concept would apply to the general maths and mathematics courses.

However, general maths and mathematics are not scaled as a singled course. They are scaled separately and, as a result, the former tends to be scaled down, whilst the latter tends to be scaled up.

Yes, she's right there too.

In simple terms, there are very few band 6 outcomes in the Standard course which students are able to demonstrate achievement of in a two hour examination. But this doesn't have anything to do with UAIs.
