i'm just curious cos i have the same name as my boyfriend's mum (and it's an uncommon name as well). i guess it's not really been to much of a problem because it's not like he refers to his mum by her first name, but i've always thought it would get a bit creepy if we got married.....and then we would end up with exactly the same name :s

I think it would be a lot worse to be dating someone with my brother's name just because the name automatically makes me think of my brother. I don't call my parents by their actual names; just mum and dad for me. I mean its not like I go and call my boyfriend Dad or anything. Now that would be gross.

Well, I have a sister and I really do hope that my boyfriend wouldn't have the same name!

But same name as my parents? I never refer to them by their names anyway, and I don't think it really matters all that much if they do have the same name. If it becomes too much of an impracticality, I can always give them a nickname.

probably parents, but my parents have unusual names (and so does my brother) so i doubt ill find a boyfriend with the same name lol or maybe
but even so, i dont date greeks.. so theres nothing to worry about

my boyfriend atm, has the same name as my ex, and im still friends with my ex (so whenver im talking about him (ie. his name on msn nickname or i accidently call my ex instead of my boyfriend lmao)
my ex thinks i want him back and doesnt belive my new boyfriend has the same name as him, he thinks im always talking about him

Parent - definitely...I don't have siblings to begin with lol - but if I had, then it'd probably be a lot harder to decide lol...and it's a strange thing that I've heard - the children seem to marry people - who would, say, in 30 years time, turn out to be exactly like their opposite-sex parent.

at one stage, we had my brother (tim) dating an amanda & i (amanda) was dating a tim...BLOODY confusing! i remember once, the 4 of us were at my place...mum called us for lunch, "tim and amanda and tim and amanda!" lol
then again, i know lots of tim's - friends, ex, friends of friends, and other randoms. though i dont think my brother knows THAT many amanda's...and luckily for me, i'm generally known as manda

having lived through that, i think having a bf with the same name as my dad would be worse (espically now that he's moved out)

my cousin and my bf have the same name. If my mum marries her partner one of my step brothers would also have the same name AND the other step brother and my biological brother are both andrew....confusing!
