Hi

First a bit of background.. You dont need to read the next three paragraphs, I'll provide a summary of what I'm after in the fourth paragraph down from here.

I'm doing a combined Civil(structures) engineering/Commerce degree, currently in my second year. Now my problem is that because I am specialising in structures (and want to keep it this way) I have to do three subjects more than the Civil/Commerce people. Students speciailising a specific Civil stream still follow the Civil/Commerce subject progression generally, but have to overload or stay behind an extra semester to catch up on those extra subjects.

I am willing to neither overload nor stay back an extra semester, so I've decided to attend Summer School three times for Commerce subjects, and then use the already completed Commerce units that are prescribed in my subject progression tables as the remaining Structural units.

I plan on majoring Finance, and the only Commerce units available at Summer School relevant to me appear to be Corporate Finance 1/2, and Micro/Macro (since I figure I'll minor in Economics). So at the end of this year I'll be doing Corporate Finance 1 at Summer School, and probably will leave Micro/Macro for later Summer Schools. I will do Corporate Finance 2 in first semester next year.

So basically, I will do Corporate Finance 2 and some other Commerce unit in first semester next year (along with two engineering subjects). Could you please tell me a suitable unit besides Micro/Macro that I will have the prerequisites for and is relevant to a Finance Major/Economics Minor.

Thanks

I'd like to add that I'm considering...

IBUS2101 International Business Strategy

... at the moment. I know its not related to Finance but it still is a Commerce unit and I have to do more Commerce subjects than there are compulsory units from Finance.

And it seems sort of beneficial to me if I end up working in a multinational engineering firm.

Thoughts?

I guess overall my problem is not knowing what subjects other than the core Finance ones I should do.

ECMT1020 is needed for Economics

I'm fairly sure MATH1005 satisfies that prerequisite as well, which I've done as part of my engineering degree.

But yeah, I'm not all that worried about economics. I only have enough units for one major unless I stay behind longer at uni (which I don't want to) and as such will only major in Finance. To use up the rest of my commerce units I'll predominantly do Economics related subjects since I enjoy Economics. I assumed this was what a "minor" referred to, since I read in my engineering handbook that Engg/Comm gives you enough Commerce units for one major and one minor.

MATH1005 can replace ECMT1010 but not ECMT1020.

There are some units of economics which require ECMT2110 which definitely cannot be replaced by first year statistics units.

I am taking it at the moment. It is pretty much the worst subject I have ever done - lectures are pretty much compulsory because there are assessments and activities that they mark attendance on.

The subject is pretty boring and our lecturer tries really hard but her English isn't the best.

We have a project that is due next week, we actually don't know what the fuck we are supposed to do for it.

It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to do well, but it's so boring!
