only if you leave it in there for a ridiculous amount of time...
The blond will turn white before it eats away at the hair and burns the scalp
not true. no matter how long she leaves the bleach on, if her hair is naturally brown she's not going to get it to white in one bleaching. if the bleach is on too long it will eventually break off/turn to jelly and go all seedy.

yeah natural colour at the moment and medium brown
it's good if it's natural. you'll have a much easier time bleaching it. buy 30vol peroxide and powder bleach from a shop like price attack. try and keep it off the scalp when you apply it, if ur scalp is sensitive it will burn like crazy if the bleach touches it. leave it for like half an hour, your hair should go through brown-orange/orange/yellow stages. once it reaches a lightish blonde wash it out. don't worry if it looks yellow.
wait at least 48 hours, although a week is better, and bleach it all over again. after the 2nd bleach it should be pretty light. if you're not satisfied, buy a DECENT violet toner.
beware. a lot can go wrong with diy bleaching.
