There's still no point in doing it if it's gonna fuck up your HSC. If you're doing it for the respect of your peers, or for the scaling, you shouldn't be doing 4u. In my experience my maths probably boosted my UAI from 95ish to 98 because I worked hard in it and loved the subject, so yes the benefits are there if you work for them and if you schedule your study well you should have no problem fitting in other subjects:)

When you say "loved" are you really serious? Is it even possible to love a subject?...especially one such as Ext 2 maths that demands 3 hours of care every night? :p

i think i know what he means...if u do 4u ur really respected and held in high regard by evry1
Teachers respect you and students look up to you...but what's the point of that if you're not worthy of that attention? The consequences will be greater if you end up failing - you'll be looked down upon, which is worse than remaining unknown.

I was in exactly the same situation, didnt think i needed it for uni but it turns out it wouldve been helpful. Honestly i dont know why i picked it up in the first place but i ended up dropping it after 2 topics and sort of regret it. But in the end, i know how to do the stuff now that i had a look back at the topics i missed so it doesnt disadvantage me too much

I loved it so much I'm considering doing a double major in pure maths:)

Sorry. I didn't intend to suggest that you were doing otherwise.
That post of mine was really meant to be directed towards currysauce.
