Well yeah man we do have to get our budget into order... The question is where you make this up. You either raise taxes (which is a terrible idea given the state of the nsw economy esp. in these times) or you sell things off / make budget cuts.
Or just borrow money and go into debt.

And when the economy picks up pay it back.

But AAA credit rating!!! *rates mortgage back securities AA*

Basically we were told ...

No jobs are safe. Frontline positions are first to go (they didn't specify, but nursing and allied health are really the only frontline positions), and some managerial jobs (they're consolidating some hospitals into one, not literally, but the management will be done by one person)...

We've already been on budget cuts for months though. Today we have no paper! Won't be getting anymore for 2 weeks. But yeah, I could list 20 things we can cut before nurses, that would save cash.

TBH, we need to raise revenue, not cut costs. Bleed the private health patients dry.

Hey, let's stop spending $400 a month on free syringes and charge them like, $2 for a pack like we used to!

50c per condom instead of giving a pack of 3 away for free.

Order more x-rays! We get paid heaps of x-rays and ultrasounds...
Each staff member is given a stationary pack at the beginning of the year. Once they lose their allocated pens and stuff, they have to get their own (we go though a box of 50 a month)

I'd say education is more important than health, obviously this is said while neither I or anyone I know is sick... but I doubt we'd have anything of a health system without our education system there to provide for it.

I say education, health and some sort of emergency services are essential. Dont they class these as essential services anyway?

Yeah they do. It's pretty funny tbh that they're cutting from health... but I'd like to know where you want to see the cuts instead, like specific big budget items.

Anywhere but from health. Maybe these fat bastards in office can take a pay cut, maybe they can stop funding lavish holidays for overseas doctors, maybe we should stop funding shit like WYDs...

Take it away from like sport or some shit, idk

Yeah I agree, I think cuts should be made to sport. But I bet they'd all have a cry.

I had a look and i couldnt really see anywhere but thats just me. But health is something that in its current state, i would have been looking to reduce costs but maintain or even better, increase staffing numbers.

Edit: NOT SPORT!!

I wonder whether all the people who opposed elec privatisation would be like "hmm, maybe it was a better option" now.

Wait, of course not, they were all trade unionists who only give a fuck about their job security and minimal work for maximum pay
what about providing for the future and all of the revenue that is generates (no pun intended) per year?

for a one of sale - that sounds really responsible!
