WTF!!!

THAT ISNT EVEN GRUNGE!!!

you have nil GRUNGE bands on that list!!

Blink are punk, pop punk now
Pantera are metal
drowning nu metal
POD same
Offspring nothing but old style punk
disturbed nu metal
System Nu Metal
Linkin Pop Nu Metal

grunge is practically dead nowdays cos there really isnt a driving push for the same things that pushed it in the 90's

Smashing, Nirvana just to name two are grunge!!

Yeah, those aren't grunge bands... they're not particularly good bands either

You should check out some other bands from the grunge era, there are some good ones... pearl jam have some great stuff, but more when grunge hype was dying down (vitalogy era), nirvana were good (but a little overrated), smashing pumpkins are gorgeous (although ive only heard their singles mainly.. need to get some albums), and soundgarden are tops too

Also, the precursors to the grunge explosion are great, especially late 80s sonic youth (or any sonic youth, for that matter).. the pixies are good too, but im not sure how much they influenced grunge

Oh, and to confuse your definition of Grunge more, its more og a marketing term than an actual genre, too. Its not clearly defined enough, Nirvana were pretty punk and Pearl Jam are pretty rock, pumpkins arent that grungy.. its more a tag stuck on a lot of early 90s rock bands...

Agreed. 'Grunge' was a catchphrase to categorise a range of fairly diverse bands, and also became a fashion movement at the time. The 'genre' as such is generally regarded as having originated circa 1987, with bands such as Green River and Mudhoney (Touch Me I'm Sick is one of the earliest grunge singles, and quite good..) then active.

My favourite of the 'grunge' bands is Nirvana. Listened to In Utero again recently, and it is still a very good album.

y'know i'd classify alot of them as alternative, to be honest. Neither is incubus classified as punk.

I'm really into sepultura - if you wanna classify that as grunge, or heavy, i can appreciate some punk too - such as AFI, or unwritten law. But Lounge is in for me at the moment.
