i was wondering why some RnB and rap groups are called what they are

for example "112" and "D12".

please explain and ask if u wonder abou anyothers. Also if u know a good reason for another group , explain their name

also is the group "REM" mean rapid eye movement? cuase thats what i know rem stands for but dont know if the group chose that name.

and why are "red hot chilli peppers" give them selves such a wierd name

as for rhcp, i should know, and its probably in the recesses of my mind somewhere but i couldnt honest tell yuo for sure. i think its jsut one of those names that you come up with when your looking for a name. they started as 'tony flow and the magestic masters of mayhem' they were also called something and the chest pimps, in honour of flea pimply chest.

led zeppelin is called that because the drumer of the Who Keith Moon, said they could go down like a lead filled zeppelin.
they would have no sucess.

brian may was voted second in guitar, and so was freddie mercury voted second in singing.

ah i know this one, i heard it on radio about 8 years ago no joke. hootie was one of their mates who wore glasses and looked like an owl hence 'hootie', and blowfish was after a guy they knew/guy in the band who had fat cheeks and looked like a blowfish.
