MATH1131 actually sucks. I don't know why these dumbass proofs and theoroms are so important. Fucking useless class, I wish it was more practical

@Interdice do they actually ask questions like this?
Honestly I forgot. I took this subject a year ago, and forgot it all. The average on the paper would be like 30-40 percent, so the questions are super hard, and the mobius exercises DO NOT prepare you for it ,and neither do the lab tests. Average for lab tests would be like near 90s.

The exam isn't paper and is fully online. You aren't allowed to bring your own calculator, you only get maple. You don't need to show any working out for most questions. Either you'd enter the answer as a fraction, or you choose an option from a drop down table, or you'd type an answer in a textbox. Sounds easy but it's super hard.

I'll give you some unsolicited advice I wish I heard. Keep up to date on 1131. Don't fall behind even a little bit. Get 90s-100s on every assignment/lab test. And 100 on mobius. You'll get the exam question bank either 2 or 3 weeks before the final exam, and you'll need to spend as much time possible studying the exam bank. About a third of the final exam questions are from question bank, so success will depend on you memorizing as much of those questions as possible.

Scaling is insane in this subject, so even like a 50-60 percent with top preexam marks, will get you a 80+.

Rare @Interdice w. For Math 1A I remember I got a pre-final mark of 48.4/50, and a final mark of ~31/60, scaling up to a course mark of 81. Although I could have done a little better in the final, it just shows to ace your pre-final mark so you don't have to rely on a superhuman effort in the final.

Nah you dont. They told me that they recommended 175/200. I got 169 and am still doing it.
that's what unsw put originally in their handbook from 2010s. they only changed it to 175/200 to accommodate more gateway people.

i even got 81% in that simple numbas quiz, and it said I could do 1141 as you only need 80%. This is how I know that they reduced the standards by so much... but I don't think they dumbed down 1141

1141 is for smart people (or dumb people who think they are smart, but they'll just fail), 1131 is for everyone else.
