You don't have to be an expert dude it's common sense. Obviously shit/bald tyres will affect braking distance quite considerably, however how many accidents happen solely because cars can't stop in time? Very few I would say - in most cases it is mainly attributable to the driver of the vehicle, who loses concentration or just doesn't pay attention to a hazard on the road. It wouldn't matter if the tyres were fresh from the factory, if the driver doesn't hit the brakes in time, they will still crash.

I believe many accidents would be reduced simply by taking such incompetent drivers off the road.
