yeah, that is confusing!

belkin call it pre-n, other companies call it other things.....

be warned, these formats are not interoperable at the high speeds.

802.11n is basicly using more antennas to provide higher speeds.

i got a g connection and it is rather slow.....

goes at around 10-15 Mbps

compared to the 40-60 you can get with a wired connection.
Well, I can't tell the difference between the net on my wired machine, and the net on my wireless (and yes, I have cable)

yeah, of course, but sending large files will be annoyingly.

but I guess that isn't a problem for most people.

The difference is seen in transfers between machines on the local network, not transfers to and from the internet; as internet connections rarely exceed the speeds of wireless or wired networks (unless you have a fibre optic backbone running straight to your home :)).

yeah, the diff between wired and wireless in a LAN is highly noticible
esp if you're running gigabit with cat6.

The problem with wireless is not that they can't make it higher speed, but that by making it higher speed, the Hz will increase and MAY have detrimental effects on our health
