Guilty verdict in Bible rape case

THE man found guilty of raping a woman as punishment for reading the Bible lured her to his unit by claiming he had news of her family overseas.
Abdul Reda al-Shawany was today found guilty of sexually assaulting the then-Muslim mother of four - a refugee from the Middle East who had left her children and husband behind - for her "insult" to Islam.

She had been studying the Bible because she was interested in Christianity. After the attack, at al-Shawany's Warwick Farm unit in Septmeber 2002, she converted.

It took a jury just half an hour to convict al-Shawany, 52, of two counts of assault at Campbelltown District Court.

Even after the decision was handed down he protested his innocence, with his lawyer Christopher Pike indicating his intention to appeal.

He said there was a viable alternative hypothesis as to how al-Shawany's DNA, in the form of semen, came to be on the victim's underwear - and that he believed his client could be acquitted on appeal.

An application for bail was refused by Judge Brian Knox, who said that the crime was "a fairly brutal attack".

Al-Shawany will be sentenced in the Downing Centre on Friday, June 15th.

His victim was not in court today.

God does not condone rape.

So the evilbible site says:
Deuteronomy 20:10-14 is proof that God approved of rape.
It means the women can be taken as wives, not raped.
If you get rape out 'keeping'... then you are reading the passage as:
" rape all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder"...so rape the livestock and plunder too?
That is not what it says.

Furthermore, Numbers 31:7-18...the site says
"Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves."
Once again, it's not rape. Moses has been told to let the girls live because they are clean and thus can become wives of the Israelite men.

The most outrageous of all the claims is this...
It is clear that God doesn't give a damn about the rape victim...in light of the verses the site provides Deuteronomy 22:23-24.

What rubbish. In their hatred of the Bible they didn't even read the next verses (well i'm sure they did)...from verses 25- if the girl has been raped then she is innocent and the man is put to death, not the girl
v.25...
But if out in the country a man happens to meet a girl pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. 26 Do nothing to the girl; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders his neighbor, 27 for the man found the girl out in the country, and though the betrothed girl screamed, there was no one to rescue her.
...the previous verses are for ADULTERY, not rape. In adultery the man and woman are put to death, in rape of the betrothed girl it's the man who is put to death.

So the three instances:
1) Rape of an engaged girl v.25-27
2) Rape of a single woman v. 28-30
3) Adultery v.23-24
The Hebrew word in verse 25 with the betrothed girl is force/rape...in the verses they quote from 23-24, she is engaged and she cooperates (adultery and they both must die), 25-27 the girl is engaged (Hebrew word is forced or raped) and therefore she is inncocent.
Third instance, v28-29 the man "takes hold of/plays and lies with" in Hebrew, and the girl is not betrothed, so it's fornication not adultery. In this case the man has to pay the family a bride price and ONLY with the fathers consent (Exodus 22:17) he should marry her and he can NEVER divorce her.

What's really annoying is that the people who wrote this evilbible.com site know that this is true.

Finally, to show that this site misreads the bible, how come our society, who's law have been based on the bible, roundly condems rape in it's laws. This wouldn't be the case if God advocated rape.
