Help!

I need sources, and lots of them, pertaining to women in Sparta!

Specifically concerning:

  • How they're depicted
  • Importance of training/education in their lives
  • Significance of Marriage in the role and status of women
  • Why women were viewed poorly by the other Greeks
  • Views and Evaluation of modern and ancient sources on Women in Sparta
  • And just generally what we know about women in Sparta.
Help please, very urgent!

Thanks

Plutarch offers alot of usfel information on spartan women as does xenophon and Plato. i have access these sources through Antiquity 2...if you could view that online im sure it would help you
i hope that helps at least a little
for example " you make your girls take part in athletics and you give thema complusory education in the arts" -Plato

Have a look at the Brennan book Spartan Society Interpreting the Evidence. We just got it at school this year - it heaps good on women and far better than the others becauce its a complete book just on Sparta. lots of archaeological stuff relating to women .............lol.
