This is a M/C question from the 2001 business studies independent trial paper.

Originally posted by the 2001 independent paper
Which of the following would be considered to be a covert industrial activity?

(A) A lockout
(B) A work-to-rules campaign
(C) A strike
(D) The sabotage of the production process
B was the answer.
Is this right? From memory, I thought sabotage was covert and WTR was overt. Or am I just totally off-track?

My friend says that both WTR and sabotage are covert.

(B) A work-to-rules campaign - OVERT
(C) A strike - OVERT
(D) The sabotage of the production process - COVERT

According to syllabus it's covert action.

Thought I'd add in a cent. Don't have two.

LOL, i've looked at the paper a time ago. If memory serves me correctly, the question is:
Which of the following would be considered to be an overt industrial activity?

(A) A lockout
(B) A work-to-rules campaign (thats why this is correct)
(C) A strike
(D) The sabotage of the production process

hrm, looking at the lot of you though, i may be wrong. eheheh, i suggest you look at the question again. Heehe, i mean well, so dont flame me. If im wrong, say it politely. :) ta

That wouldn't work - because a lock-out, a strike and a work-to rule campaign are all overt forms of industrial action and sabotage is the only covert form of action. Going on that basis that it's a multiple choice ... and you only get one choice, it has to be D

And that is from the syllabus... And I'm pretty darn certain that's what they're going to be basing it on.

Beh if this is a flame.

hrm, no it isnt a flame. :D

Anyway, the question asks for an overt INDUSTRIAL ACTIVITY. Activity is also a key word, methinks.
(A) A lockout (not industrial activity)
(B) A work-to-rules campaign (is industrial activity)
(C) A strike (not industrial activity)
(D) The sabotage of the production process (hrm'ski)

agree? Im quite sure this is more or less what was said in the explanation of answers. Tell you what, i'll ask my business studies teacher today. I'll give you the question and the explanation of the answer tonight. However, im quite sure I am correct.

ffs people don't just assume and just through answers into the air because you're misleading the rest of us.

Sabotage is obviously not an OVERT (openly expressed) action, do you think that employees would be dumb enough to damage the equipment in front of their employees??

thank about it
