also every degree of longitude (east or west) = 4 minutes.

so if one location was at 50N 30W and the other was 50N 31W, the second location would be 4 minutes behind the first.

Conversely, if one location was 50N 30W and the other was 50N 29W, the second would be 4 minutes in front.

Going east (to the right), each degree is +4 minutes, and west (to the left), each degree is -4 minutes.

EAST is ahead of time
WEST is slow in time

each degree = 4min of time dillution
each degree = 60 nautical miles
1 nautical mile = 1.852km

I got taught this little trick with working out time zones and its helped me heaps!
ok say you have town A (20*N, 50*E), town B(30*N, 20*W) and you need to work out the time differance
draw a line West to East
then mark your greenwhich meridian which is 0*
plot your points roughly town A 50* east
and town B 20* west
If your points are on either side of the greenwhich meridan you add them together eg: 50*+20*
and if they are in the same sector you subtract
then times by four to get it into minutes and the rest is easy!!
the town always closer to the east is in front with time your working towards the east whether it is behind or in front

W----------20*---------0*------------50*-----------E
