Good team, though i would probaly have Fleming in the middle order to provide stability, and he seems to have good tactic for Australia's batters(if you dont include yesterdays ODI ;)

I'll meet your flintoff and raise you the following:

strauss
sehwag
Lara
Tendulkar
Kallis
Flintoff
Sangakkara
Pollock
Vettori
Muralitharan
Bond

These of course are based on the players being fit. Bond is perhaps the best bowler against modern day Australia.
Pollock a shadow of his former self? *laughs*
Here are the certainties

2 Sehwag
3 Dravid
4Tandulker
7.Sangakkara
11 Murali

1. Gibbs, Smith, Strauss, Fleming (Strauss until the Ashes tour and if he fails i'd go Smith)
5. Lara probably
6. I can't see how Kallis wouldn't make it, he is in a serious hot streak.
8. Pollock ( I hate people who don't rate him. The only players with comporable figures are Miller, Khan and Sobers. Now that's a pretty illustrious lot.
9. Either Kumble or Vettori really a toss of a coin.I'd personally go Kumble becasue SCG is more suited to him.
10. I really don't think Bond is good enough, considering as well he hasn't played much. I'd go for Ntini. I know hardly anyone here has seen him but he was pretty damn good against India and was superb against the Poms.

With Vettori, he's almost guaranteed to take 2-35 off 10 overs and perhaps back that up with a quick fire 20.

The Aussie batsmen have the measure of Kumble imo.

Bond is playing club cicket right now he is not even bowling he is playing purely as a batsemn lmao so putting him in an world XI is outrageous + his test figures against australia are not good however his one day figures against aussies are brilliant. I agree Pollock is a great allrounder however considering present time FLintoff is better. And smokey i also disagree on ahving 3 allrounders in one lineup
the team is unbalanced.

Did you watch the last series. Because you are wrong.
Pollock is in far better form than Flintoff with ball and even arguably with bat as well.
It isn't too bad having three allrounders in one team if they can all claim a spot on one area alone. Kallis, batting, Pollock, bowling and that leaves the lumbering Flintoff without any area in which he excels.

..those three should at least be in the touring 15. There would obviously be rotations.

nb. I haven't intended there to be 3 allrounders, only two. Kallis is a specialist batsmen, who by chance can bowl really well as well. It is a bonus that the three can do both.

i think that pollock is not as good as flintoff with the bat ... flintoff is a great batsman, he can turn games around, he can be likened to chris cairns of nz, just so explosive ...
i would have kallis in my team even if he wasnt an all-rounder, he avg like 60 last year ...

You've also gotta remember that it is a six day test so explosiveness in the middle order is not important. Sure he's explosive in ODI but not so much in tests and Pollock is needed as a quality bowler. Flintoff's bowling would get smashed and his batting isn't that important when you have batters right up to Sangakkara.

Surely you would take Kallis above Flintoff and Pollock in a test match. It was not long ago that he was in the top 10 in the world for both batting and bowling....It has been some time since I last checked the rankings though.

Kallis's bowling is not good at all atthe moment, while the opposite is true for Pollock. Doesn't matter anyway cause they would both make the team on only one of their talents.

Kallis by the way is topping batting list and Pollock is third in bowling.

It should be remembered that the match is against Australia, not Jim Beam's second XI. They have collectively the best batting, bowling and fielding on the planet. Flintoff has never played a test against Australia and averages only 32 with the bat. There are countless others better than this. If he was picked, he would have to step up considerably to the pressure. His game is very much a one-day suit.

If i was a selector i would perhaps shy away from rookies towards proven performers against Australia.

Pollock definately has to be in. Who else in that world lineup can bowl perfect line and length and bowl maiden after maiden( of the pace bowlers)?

?????

a lot of you are complaining about who is better pollock or flintoff.
both are big hitters no doubt, both are allrounders (no doubt)
advantages of having pollock.
he is a specialist bowler
has plenty of experience
disadvantages
redhead!

flintoff advantages
better batsman
big hitter (so is pollock)
disadvantages
pommy

i would personally go for pollock over flintoff and in odi perhaps both.

players tht would be in?

Sehwag
Vaughan
Murali
Sangakarra
Lara
Dravid*
Tendulkar*
Vettori^
Fleming^

^depending on conditions and others
*high chance

Oh Shoiab will not have chance, cause he sucks!
