This dot point is really confusing

- Describe the correct process for conducting titration and making a standard solution.

for the first part, a question occured with only 3 marks asking to describe the correct technique for conducting titration.
a two mark question asked for the second part.

a totally unrelated question: What is the purpose of an acid in esterification?
beside that it dehydrates out a water molecule...does it make it faster or reduce the initiation temp?

If you look at esterification its actually at an equilibrium...
so since the conc. sulfuric acid dehydrates... the equilibrium
is pushed to the production of water, which means
the production of more ester...

so it speeds up the reaction but i dont know if it
lowers activation energy?

I think the correct titration method is things like-
rinse conical flask with distilled water
rinse wherever you prefer to put the acid with acid
rinse wherever you prefer to put the base with base

use an appropriate indicator, for the strength of acid/base
you're using

Making a standard solution
most textbooks use sodiumhydrogencarbonate

make sure its completely dry
weigh it out acurately
dissolve the amount you weighed in distilled water (in a volumetric not conical flask)
and fill it up with distilled water to the engraved notch.

It's a catalyst, it lowers activation energy. It also absorbs water, shifting equilibrium to the right. Remember that it actually does take part in the reaction. It is regenerated at the end, but it does take part.

I have the equations but my eyes hurt too much to look at the computer for another minute.
