Hey guys,
I was wondering if a phone call/inquiry check is worth regarding my modern history and extension2 english marks. I've calculated that for modern history my internal assessment marks were all over 95+, yet I got 92 for assessment and I calculated I should have gotten 45/46 /50 for extension 2 english yet I got 42 for assessment mark. I know that the assessment marks got moderated, but to be dropped by so many marks.

My teacher said that I got a 'nominal band 6/e4' for extension 2 but I'm still disappointed - I got 40/50 for it, when I think I should have deserved higher, thus brining my mark to 42/5 for ee2. I'm also aware of a 7mark discrepancy when marking ee2, as my teacher told me.

What should I do??

Oh who cares? As long as you get into your uni course.

By how much did you miss out on your uni course? What ATAR gap are we talking about?

Did you factor in bonus points/EAS/whatever?

Personally, it's very unlikely that BOS would make an error - if you want to go and appeal, then go ahead. Your grounds, to me, are "My school assessments were so high and then I only got this much when it was moderated".

What would help, perhaps, is if you post your HSC marks in full here. Internal marks, external marks, final HSC mark - because if something fishy can be spotted there... then well, your appeal might have more merit.

Sounds like wogboy wants to do Law, so Shadow, there aren't any bonus points, although EAS may be applicable.

wogboy, what were your assessment and exam marks for those subjects? Seeing as you came first in them (your sig), if you got the highest exam mark, then that would also be your assessment mark. However, if your exam mark is lower, then it's the average of the two.

assessments marks depend on your internal ranks and the size of the mark gaps between them. The raw marks you got for your internal assessments are irrelevant.

And you were ranked 1st for Extension 2 English? Is that 40 your external mark or internal mark?

Yep, was ranked first in both ee1 and ee2. The 40 in ee2 was the external mark :(
Well, I don't know. There's nothing fishy in those marks... so if you want to apply for an appeal - go ahead. Up to you.

That was your exam performance. Even if you got 100 raw internal, you only achieved 92 for modern history in the exam, and that being the highest mark, you got that for your HSC mark. Likewise with your other subjects.

Yeah, that's why I don't think anything is fishy in those marks. That's just a case of easy marking at school or perhaps a bombing out in the exam.

So if the person wants to go and appeal, go ahead - but, to be honest, it's unlikely that there'll be a mistake.

Going by your ranks, you have come first in everything (unless they are incorrect, especially Ancient and EE2). Isn't the first mark the exam mark, second mark the assessment and third the final HSC mark (on my results page, it goes in that order)? If it is, then your marks for Ancient and EE2 appear incorrect, as your exam mark is higher than your assessment mark.

He said the first mark was the assessment, I believe.

But he can check.
