Hi Everyone,

Trial marks not so great. Do you guys think it is still worth trying EE for Comp.

Science, B.IT????

IPT 69%-rank 5th/20-(usually good marks for projects)

Maths 70%-rank 17th/81

St. Eng 66%-rank 26/71

Eco-56% no rank yet but probably not great.

Bio-58% rank-as for Eco

Just not sure if they would laugh :rofl: at my marks/ranks!

Any advice appreciated,

Re: ? worth thrying for Early Entry Comp. Sc?

It's always worth it. Most people don't get guaranteed a spot, but they will tell you what to hit with your marks. They might look at your marks and say if you get an 80 in maths then you will have a spot, so you know what to aim at and study for. Anyway your marks are pretty good.

If you don't hit the goals they'll call you up and give you a spot anyway (seriously).

UOW seems desperate for undergraduate students. I'm not exaggerating, if you apply for this, you will get in. You might not get 'early entry', but you will get in.

Just go for it, when i applied i had marks of mid 70's and ranks were 2,3,8,3,10 in various subjects and got accepted in ict and internet sci. I also did no I.T subjects at high school which they didnt mind. Good luck.

You're female, which is probably more of a plus for you. There's all this push for girls in IT, so you could have that going for you.

Either way, just try for it. The worst they can say is "go away" and if you show that you're keen to do Computer Science, you're willing to go the hard kilometres to study, and you're a capable student, they'll either say yes or conditional yes (which could translate into a yes anyway).

Re: ? worth thrying for Early Entry Comp. Sc?

is it true if you accept ur early entry u cant apply for any other uni? If this statement is untrue how would I go with these marks and ranks?:

* English Standard - 65% 9/50
* General Maths - 81% 8/71
* Business Studies - 78% 5/55
* IPT - 85% 1/9
* SDD - 78% 2/11 (I have my major work in a folder which I got 99% for)

with those marks i can pretty much guarantee you will get in provided you show an interest in what you are studying. just don't tell them you would rather go to uts. ;)

what early entry means (if you get it) is that they will save up a spot for you in their course and you will automatically be in if you put it as your first preference, regardless of the cutoff and your uai. just because you go for early entry and make it doesn't mean you *have* to go to uow. people get early entry for more than one course and still end up going somewhere else.

so you're saying if I'm successful with early entry I can still leave my uac preferences the same (1st being UTS) and if I don't get into UTS I can get into UOW automatically?

nah guaranteed entry only works if its your first preference. although by the looks of your marks you will probably get in regardless.

You can still choose other courses, just place the uow early entry course as 1st pref and if you get good hsc marks + good uai then u can change ur preferences. You can atleast have uow as back up if things go wrong, and with ur marks u will most probably get early entry.

Ye why not, especially if the degree your interested in is offered via early entry. Good luck.

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but is it a difficult process changing your uac preferences? Do you have to pay that damned admistration fee again?
