each unit has their own course outline. usually given out in the first lecture and can also be found on that unit's home page (ie. on webct)

the final exams have the highest weighting out of all your assessments. and also, depending on which subject it is, they all differ in what kind of exams they are. i know psych is all multiple choices questions, economics had essays... it all differs....

good chance that your assessments will involve multiple choice, essays and short answers, throughout the semester.

of course as jlh said. this will vary from subject to subject. for example you wont find essays in say MATH135.

i'd say its worse than the hsc in terms of final exam pressure. the exams are much more closer together. for eg- in both sem i think i had 3 exams in consecutive days, with 2 on the same day in sem 1.

dont stress. hsc will seem like a piece of cake when uni starts up. :)

yeah i agree there is more pressure in the finals.. especially when some of your finals are worth 70%+ of your final mark..

dreami, dont worry about it right now! Enjoy your last few days of freedom before crappy school work commences! You'll find out in the first lecture what assessments you have, how much they are worth, and whether you have a final exam. For some media subjects, yes, there are no final exams as such, but they have a final essay thats due in the same week as final exams start. They give you the topic maybe a week before its due (so really you're no better off).

Its true.. well, it is for jurisprudence (the first semester law subject). You have a week to do 2 essays, which isnt so bad, but I was still finishing them on the day they were due. Torts final exam is pretty stressful. Your hand falls off, and when you're sitting in a classroom which is 40 degrees, its not so cool. Its hard not to become delusional about the hypotheticals you're writing about.

Not to burst your bubble dreami, but its not nearly as cruisy as it sounds. Media finals are apparently a bitch (I have a good friend who does media/law)- the juris final essays were due on the same day as two of her media ones.
