FF: If youre interested, heres some stuff you could take a look at. Theres a proof for one form of l'Hopital's rule in the 2nd one. There may be some general spelling errors because I havent had time to look over them after I initially converted them to electronic form, but most would be ok.

I loved the third topic, although I havent added the pictures so it may be hard to visualise. I'm not sure how much it would help in 4u since I didnt take it up and hence dont know the entire course
You typed the whole of MATH1901 up? :S

P.S. synthetic division is possible with quadratic factors, but is more complicated - check out the Lin-Bairstow Method:

Haha. You have all your bases covered. I was about to mention that it works for quads aswell. Past linear I'd just use good old long division, though. :D

What are your uni plans, BTW? You're pretty gifted.

thankyou for your compliment SlideR, especially when it's coming from someone who's as talented and gifted as you are at maths :D

as to my plans for uni study... i haven't as of yet chosen a definitive course/program (i know, it's pretty late already...), but i am looking in the direction of perhaps an advanced science (in phys or maths) degree combined with engineering... either at UNSW or USYD i suppose.
but like i said, i'm not 100% certain yet.

If it says "hence", only use the method provided.

If it says "hence or otherwise" you should probably use their method, but if you want you can use another.

Usuaully they use "hence or otherwise" where their method is better than any other method anyway. :p

Ah, I see. I might see you in the future, then. I'm going for BE(Photovoltaic & Solar Energy)/BSc(Probably maths) @ UNSW.

haha... yea i remember, that was just after my first post on BOS i think.
lol, i'm really not high level or gifted, i've met many more ppl my age who are much better than i am. i'm just passionate about maths that's all; but thanks for the compliment anyway :).

lol, yea that'd be cool if we went to the same uni and did some of the same courses in the future :uhhuh:

so why Photovoltaic and Solar.E. for the B.E. in particular?

Why PV? Well, I think it's a culmination of a lot of small things, as well as a fair amount of big things. I'll try to compile a list of my reasons for you tonight, as well as some web sites for you to peruse. :)

acmilan: Hah. The one subject I probably won't be able to take in 1st year. :p

Urge to kill rising.

Spent an hour typing up 2 page document on the pros of photovoltaics. Had too many IE wndows open. My 128mb ram couldn't handle it, decided to start crashing. Thought to myself "this is bad. I should probably save". Clicked saved. Programme crashed. Lost document. Steele felt like placing his fist inside his monitor.

Um, you can hopefully understand if I just give you links and tell you to check it out for yourself, now, I hope. Feel free to ask me any questions about the degree. I've done an almost exhaustive search for info about it so that I know what I'm getting myself into (that includes non-academic factors, such as male:female ratio, demeanor of peers and lecturers, class sizes, whether or not lecturers wll go to the pub with you, starting salary, et cetera :p) Also, the members "Courtenay" and "gress <3 tig" do Renewable and Photovoltaics respectively, so you can contact them if you have any questions, also.

Oh and UNSW is the world leader in photovoltaics. Another very good reason to do it.

If you do BE/BSc, you'll get 78 units to spend on science subjects. Or rather, 60 + 18 from the BE's strand.

Nice choice.

USyd you get 96 BSc credit points and you also have 18 maths ones from BE strands, as well as the ability to do physics and get an exemption from engineering mechanics, which means without overloading you can have 120 BSc credit points. I'm planning to manipulate it to get a triple maths major.

How come it's 96, Justin? How many CP's per semester?
